Email is blocked by uceprotect blacklist/blocklist service Print

Problem Description

Emails you are sending are not being received by select recipients and either a bounce or their mail admins have indicated that this is occurring because the Websavers SMTP servers are blocked by uceprotect blocklist service.

Problem Resolution

There are many email blocklisting services out there including Spamcop, Spamhaus, Barracuda, and more. These services will list suspected spammers and allow the owner of the IP address to request delisting for free as long as the request is accompanied by proof of having resolved the source of spam or does not recur in a short period of time.

uceprotect is considered a scam by most in the email services industry. They will block entire IP ranges without justification, then demand hundreds of dollars for delisting. They have been known to do this repeatedly, thusly extorting thousands of dollars from companies. If your recipients are using uceprotect as a blacklisting service, we will not buy in to this extortion and thusly it is up to the recipient's mail administrators to stop subscribing to the uceprotect blacklist. There are many other email blacklisting services they can subscribe to instead of uceprotect which provide quality services without extortion being their primary business model -- we strongly recommend using one or more of those services instead.

The Level3 Blocklist is particularly egregious for mail providers to utilize. Using that blocklist is like banning green cars because a robber once used one to get away from a crime, and making anyone else who wants to own a green car pay $50/month for a waiver to let them keep it.
