Problem Description
- You receive a notification from 1-click web apps (Installatron) indicating the backup process has failed
- The notification may indicate Technical error: Error: Upload failed.
- You receive a notification from Plesk that the backup process has failed
- The notification may indicate Transport error: Unable to refresh the access token
- You use a 3rd party backup location like DropBox, OneDrive, or Google Drive
Problem Resolution
The first thing to check is that your backup storage actually has room available for more backups. To do this, log into your cloud storage provider and ensure you have enough storage available for backups to complete.
If there is not enough storage, you have a few options:
- Purchase more storage with your Cloud Provider
- Change cloud storage providers
- Configure the backup solution to create less backups by reducing frequency. More on this below!
If there is plenty of storage, you likely need to reconnect the account.
How to reconnect Plesk to your cloud provider
- Begin by logging in to Plesk
- Under any domain's "Dashboard" tab, choose Backup & Restore > Remote Storage Settings
- Select the cloud provider you use. It might say "Ready for Use" here (even if there's issues connecting)
- Under "Account" choose Log Out
- Select your cloud provider again and then follow the steps to reconnect it to your cloud provider
Wait for the next automated backup.
How to reconnect 1-click web apps to your cloud provider
- Begin by logging in to Plesk
- Choose 1-click web apps or Installatron
- Click the button on the far right (cogs) for settings
- Under Backups, choose Locations
- Click the wrench icon beside the location that is failing, then click "Save All"
- You will be prompted to reconnect to your cloud storage location - complete the steps.
You may now wish to complete a backup to confirm it works, or you can wait for the next automated backup.
Reducing backup frequency/storage when using Plesk for backups
- Begin by logging in to Plesk
- Under any domain's "Dashboard" tab, choose Backup & Restore
- Choose the Schedule button
- Disable the most frequent backup option and enable a less frequent one. Example: disable daily backups and enable weekly backups.
Reducing backup frequency/storage when using 1-click web apps for backups
- Begin by logging in to Plesk
- Choose 1-click web apps
- Click the edit button on any given web app
- Choose Configuration > Backups
- Reduce the frequency of backups to ensure less backups are created
- You can also go to the Backups tab and remove some older backups manually
Resellers & VPS owners can configure pruning in 1-click web apps
- Begin by logging in to Plesk
- Choose 1-click web apps or Installatron
- Click the button on the far right (cogs) for settings
- Under Backups, choose Quotas
- Select the Add Backup Quota button and configure as you like, but make sure under Action you choose Prune - this will ensure newer backups will replace older ones rather than just provide an error and stop.
