List of alternate names for registrar and hosting services Print

  • 0

Many web hosts and registrars use alternate names for different parts of their services, or resell other companies services. To make it easier to determine who owns what name, we'll do our best to keep the following list updated accordingly.

Company Alternate/Common Names (Usage)
GoDaddy secureserver.net (Mail)
domaincontrol.com (Registrar)
HostGator Launchpad.com (Registrar)
myorderbox.com (Reseller?)

The following is a list of common domain resellers:

  • Tucows.com via enom.com
    • You *should* see the name of the actual reseller in the whois lookup for the domain.
    • eNom typically allows full management through their API, so if your registrar uses eNom and doesn't supply full access to manage all domain functions, it's because they've specifically not chosen to implement it.
    • If you are unable to access the actual registrar (the reseller) control panel, you may be able to login to manage the domain here: https://access.enom.com/
  • Tucows.com via OpenSRS
    • You will not see the name of the actual reseller in the whois lookup for the domain, but you can lookup who the reseller is here: https://tucowsdomains.com/provider-search/
    • Tucows / OpenSRS allows full management through their API, so if your registrar uses eNom and doesn't supply full access to manage all domain functions, it's because they've specifically not chosen to implement it.
    • If you are unable to access the actual registrar (the reseller) control panel, you may be able to login to manage the domain here: https://opensrs.com/manage/
