When accessing email using a Gmail account (usually via POP connector), emails appear to be delayed. Often messages can take as long as an hour to be received.
This is a problem with the frequency at which the Gmail service connects to your email account hosted with Websavers. They only check the account every hour and they do not provide an option to reduce the frequency.
Problem Resolution
We wish we could advise you to simply configure Gmail to reduce the frequency at which email is received, but unfortunately Google does not supply this as an option. There are two ways you can work around this issue:
Solution 1: Stop using Gmail to retreive your email and access it directly on the Websaver server instead
This option costs you nothing, but does require that you reconfigure the method in which you access email. Since you will be accessing the messages directly on the server and you will no longer be using Gmail, this bypasses the 1 hour interval that Google imposes. This requires a two step process:
a) Login to your Gmail account and head to the settings. Proceed to the Accounts & Import tab and under "Check mail from other accounts (using POP3)" remove your Websavers hosted email account.
b) Access your email via Webmail from now on at https://webmail.websavers.ca or configure your mail application(s) on your computer, tablet and/or phone to directly access your Websavers email with the settings in our knowledgebase here.
Solution 2: Switch your email service to using Google Apps
If you really like using the Gmail interface and cannot imagine using anything else, then you will probably want to switch your email from using Websavers as an email provider and instead pay Google for email service using Google Apps. This is a multi-step and somewhat complicated process. While it can go very smoothly if you follow it precisely, it's important to note that we cannot supply support for Google hosted email, so changing to Google Apps as an email provider means we cannot help you with either the set-up of the Google Apps account or any email related troubles you might have in the future.
To make the switch, Sign up for Google Apps for Business here. At the time of writing, pricing started at $5 per email account per month.
