How do I change my Plesk password? Print

  • 0

Problem Description

You wish to change your Plesk password but the options in Plesk to do this are missing.

Problem Resolution

To prevent our Client Centre from getting out of sync with Plesk, we have removed the option to change your Plesk password from Plesk, however you still can change the password through our Client Centre!

Here's how to change your Plesk password:

  1. Login to the Websavers Client Centre
  2. Select the hosting plan for which you wish to change the Plesk password (note: do not click on Login to Plesk).
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the hosting plan details page and you will see the area with the Plesk URL, Username, and Password. Under Password choose the Change button
  4. Click the button to generate a new password that passes Plesk's security requirements, or you may try entering your own. Save the password to your preferred password manager, like 1Password.
  5. Click Save Changes

Within 30 seconds the page should refresh and indicate success. You can now login to Plesk directly with that new password by using the Plesk URL shown on that same page.

Troubleshooting

  • If you get an error when changing the password, please open a ticket indicating that you were attempting to change the Plesk password and received an error.
  • If, after changing your password, your email address password changes as well, you've found a (relatively rare) Plesk problem. To fix it, try these steps:
    • Login to Plesk and navigate to Account (left menu) > My Profile
    • Click the OK or Apply button to save changes. You do not need to actually change anything.
    • That's it - thanks to some hidden code we've placed on that page, this process should automatically disconnect your email password from your Plesk password. Test it by changing your Plesk password from the Client Centre again using the steps above and see if your email password changes at the same time. If it does, please open a ticket to let us know the steps you took and that they did not work.
