Problem Description
You receive an email alert or notification in Plesk like: Not all the data from /var/www/vhosts/<domain> was backed up successfully
Problem Resolution
This indicates that there's files the backup utility cannot read and so cannot back them up. However very frequently these are simply system files that can be safely ignored.
The following is a list of directories that might appear in those backup warnings and which can be safely ignored because the file contents do not need to be backed up. In your Plesk Backup report, these directories may be preceeded by a domain or have subdirectories within them, either case is still safe to ignore.
- .rapid-scan-db -- this is simply our malware scanner
- bin/<anything> -- system folder
- etc/<anything> -- system folder
- opt/<anything> -- system folder
We'll keep updating this list with any additional directories that are reported and which are safe to ignore.
If you see any directories in the list provided by the Plesk Backup utility which are not in the list above, first check their permissions using the Plesk File Manager to see if you can repair them, and if that doesn't solve the problem, then let us know!
