Problem Description
You would like to have the password strength / password complexity reduced for your hosting account. This is typically because you're having a difficult time remembering the password or typing it in each time due to its length.
Problem Resolution
Shared Hosting
Password complexity cannot be changed on a per subscription or per domain basis and because security is an important tenet of our company, we can't knowingly reduce the security of our servers by lowering the password length limit to values which can be brute forced by large botnets.
If you're having trouble keeping track of those lengthy passwords, we strongly recommend the use of a password manager like 1Password or LastPass. We use the latter around here and it's great at ensuring all of our passwords are 30+ characters and we never have to type them in!
Virtual Private Server Hosting
If you have a VPS of your own with Plesk, you can simply configure the password complexity however you like! Here's the Plesk guide.
Workarounds
Move to a VPS. If you really badly need the password complexity reduced and refuse to use a password manager, you could consider migrating to a virtual private server of your own where you can configure this value to your requirements.
Mail Only? If the password strength problem applies primarily to email access, a workaround is to move your email to our Canadian Exchange mail hosting solution, where password strength can be controlled for just your domain's email. Plus Exchange includes a bunch of other pro-features as well! See here for more details on Exchange mail hosting.
