I registered my domain and set up my hosting but I can't reach my site in a browser Print

Problem Description

  • Your domain is registered
  • You have set the domain's name servers to match (point it to) your hosting plan
  • Your website has been uploaded to your hosting in the correct web root folder/path
  • Visiting your website URL in a browser does not work

Problem Resolution

Here's a few possible reasons why this could be the case:

Reason 1 - DNS Propagation or Configuration Problem: The most common reason this occurs is because your domain name registration hasn't propagated to all Domain Name Servers yet - particularly the ones managed by your internet provider. The propagation process can take up to 24 hours for your new name to properly link to our server, so if this has not completed yet, please be patient! If you'd like to be more sure that propagation is the reason, or if you believe there is a DNS problem, please check our KB article on resolving DNS issues.

Reason 2 - Hosting Problem: If you've ruled out DNS issues using the info above, non-DNS errors, like a 40x or 50x error, typically mean a problem with the website code. The only way to narrow these down effectively is to analyze the web server error logs.
