1-click web apps says the backup process has failed Print

  • 0

Problem Description

You receive an email from 1-click web apps saying your backup or upgrade has failed. In the message body it says: Technical Error: mysql database connection failed

Problem Resolution

This typically means that something about the database, like the database name, has been changed outside of 1-click web apps. This could be because of a manual copy or perhaps a plugin that cloned or duplicated your site and changed the database connection details.

To resolve this we need to let 1-click web apps know about the new/correct database connection info. We do that by detatching the app from 1-click web apps and re-importingit. Here's how!

  1. Log in to Plesk and choose 1-click web apps
  2. Find the application that you received this error about in the list and click the menu button on the far right
  3. Select the option called "Detatch" (definitely do not choose Uninstall). This will remove the app from the list of websites in 1-click web apps
  4. Now head to Applications Browser and re-attach the app by following the steps here
  5. Once re-attached you will need to edit it to reconfigure your preferred backup schedule and update settings.

That's it! The app should now be freshly re-configured within 1-click web apps.
